Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon Registration Now Open; Event Announces TampaWell Activated by Tampa General Hospital as Presenting Sponsor
TAMPA, FL – The 10th annual Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon (TBKT) presented by TampaWell Activated by Tampa General Hospital is Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 7:15 a.m. at Adventure Island. Registration for the event officially opened on Tuesday, October 26, 2023. The triathlon is produced by the Tampa Bay Sports Commission (TBSC) and the Event Development Institute (EDI).

The TBKT offers youth athletes, experienced and first-timers alike, the opportunity to swim through the lazy river, bike and run in and around Adventure Island, Busch Gardens’ premier water park.

Boys and girls ages 6-14 are eligible to participate. The first 400 registrants receive a complimentary “Stay and Play” ticket to Adventure Island, valid only on race day.

Participants will receive an official Under Armour race shirt and a finisher’s medal upon completion of the race. Continuing a tradition started in 2018, a portion of registration fees will be donated to the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) in honor of one of the TBKT’s first-ever participants, Gavin Lambert, who suffers from Friedreich’s ataxia, a neuromuscular disorder.

Additionally, the TBKT is proud to announce TampaWell as the presenting sponsor of the event. TampaWell is a revolutionary wellness initiative in partnership with the City of Tampa dedicated to supporting the quest for a healthier lifestyle and the goal of making Tampa the ultimate wellness destination in the U.S. The TampaWell initiative is championed by Tampa General’s Community Health and Wellness team, whose efforts have included enhancing Tampa fitness trails and developing a community garden and food pantry in East Tampa at the TGH Family Care Center Healthpark.

“TampaWell Activated by Tampa General Hospital is excited to partner with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission on the 10th annual TBKT,” said Kim Christine, administrator, TGH Community Health and Wellness and Ambulatory Services. “Healthy habits start early. Teaching kids across Tampa Bay at a young age that regular exercise is both healthy and fun is a critical part of our shared missions. This event is a great platform to do just that,” Christine said.
