What is the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon?

The Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon (TBKT) provides youth athletes of all experience levels, from beginners trying their first race to experienced competitors, with the unique opportunity to swim, bike, and run through and around Adventure Island®, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s premier water park. The event creates a fun, energetic, and family-friendly environment that encourages healthy lifestyles, confidence building, and youth participation in sports and fitness.

Open to boys and girls ages 6–14, participants are divided into age-based race waves to ensure athletes compete alongside others within their respective age groups. The race course is specifically designed to create a safe and exciting experience for young athletes while still delivering the challenge and excitement of a true triathlon event.

All registered participants receive a complimentary “Stay & Play” ticket to Adventure Island®, valid on race day only, allowing families to continue the fun after crossing the finish line. Participants also receive a race-day swag bag featuring an official Nike race shirt, a finisher’s medal upon completion of the race, and additional participant giveaways and sponsor items.

Produced by the Event Development Institute (EDI), the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon has become one of the Tampa Bay area’s premier youth participation events. The event continues to grow each year, bringing together hundreds of young athletes and their families from across the region for a memorable day centered around sports, wellness, and community engagement.

In addition to creating a first-class experience for participants, the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon is proud to support a meaningful cause. A portion of race proceeds benefits the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), helping fund research efforts and raise awareness for Friedreich’s Ataxia.
